In October I’m off. This time there will be no 8 000 meters, as you know, but instead two peaks over 6,000 metres.

Both Iceland Peak-Imja tse (6 189 meters above sea level) and Lobuche (6 119 meters above sea level) are two popular, so-called Trekking Peaks. Trekking Peak is a classification by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and is a peak over 7,000 metres to be technically easy, so that persons with limited climbing experience should be able to summit. It is also a fact that peaks around 7,000 metres is not near as expensive to climb.

This means that I will return to Solukhumbu, Sagarmatha National Park and will trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp – the hike that I previously nominated as one of the world’s most beautiful. It feels exciting, fun and just perfect after the plunge I took when Cho Oyu was cancelled earlier this summer. Now it feels like this journey will be the start of my reloading. As the saying goes, the darkest hour is just before dawn.

Iceland Peak or ‘Imja-tse’ is one of the most popular peaks to climb in Nepal in the Everest region. The mountain is an extension of the back of Lhotse Shar.
