Today, in the afternoon, an avalanche struck in France, at Massif des Écrins, at approximately 4,000 meter’s altitude. At least one group of 8 roped climbers were swept away by the avalanche. 7 of which died from their injuries, 1 person was injured.
The conditions in the area has been ‘winter like’ with a lot of snow.
The area is very popular among amateur climber because of its relatively easy climbing routes.
